November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta. It is a time to increase awareness of the warning signs of family violence and the resources and supports available so we can work together to end family violence and build healthier relationships in our communities.
Purple is the colour that represents Awareness and Prevention Month Activities. Purple is the symbol of courage, survival and honour and it has come to symbolize the fight to end family violence.
Ways to go purple in the month of November: replace white bulbs with purple bulbs, set up a purple window displace at your home or business, hand out purple ribbons to staff/customers.
Crossroads will be hosting several events in the month of November to raise awareness:
-November 2, 2022 “Breakfast with the Guys” 7am-9am at DMI.
Breakfast with the Guys will provide you with the opportunity to explore the root causes of domestic violence in order to gain a better understanding of how and why violence happens.
Join us and keynote speaker Anthony Parker, as we examine and challenge common myths and misconceptions that exist in our culture about domestic violence. It may be called Breakfast with the “Guys” however, this free breakfast event is open to anyone who wants to learn how to prevent violence in their community.
